Cat collar breakaway1/5/2024 Please measure your pet prior to ordering and utilize our FREE custom sizing to ensure the best fit and avoid the hassle of returns.Ī very flexible rule of thumb for choosing width: Refer to the product descriptions and size charts for the most accurate sizing details. Similarly, if you wash your engraved item, protect it by placing it inside a garment bag or a sock so it doesn't get beat up in the washer/dryer.Įach collar type has its own size chart. Instead, fasten these items at the adjustment slide or a mini tag ring so they cannot make contact with your buckle. The easiest way to do this is to avoid hanging metal objects near your buckle! Hanging tags, lights, and other gizmos that swing or rub against engraved buckles will inevitably cause premature wear and tear. Aluminum is strong and lightweight, which makes it ideal for pet collars, but it is a softer metal so it can be damaged by repeated contact with materials harder than itself (concrete, tile, other metals, etc). While our engraving process is vastly superior to most "laser etched" products on the market, care should still be taken to protect your items, in particular aluminum buckles and tags. Our engraver physically removes metal and surface coating to provide a longer-lasting, professional engraving when compared to laser-etched products. This etching often wears off the buckle in a short time. Our buckles and tags are engraved with a diamond-tipped CNC machine, never a laser! Laser engraving is used by nearly all other collar companies - lasers are inexpensive but only burn the top surface coating of buckles. Avoid choosing blocky, bold, or script fonts if you need a lot of information on your buckle. Thin, basic fonts work best with long lines of text on small buckles. She is also microchipped, she came from the Cats Protection, who microchip all their cats before selling. Our collars are the ones with the plastic clip, which unclips under stress. I've never converted to using the type with the plastic breakaway bit, because when I fiddled with them in the shop they didn't seem to snap quick and easy enough, although your cat doesn't seem to have a problem on that score:D Obviously once a Simba collar has snapped, you can't re-use it. If the collar gets snagged on a branch the weight of the cat will either snap the elastic (has happened, I've found snapped collars at base of trees a few times) - and/or the cat will pull away and 'enlarge' the collar by stretching the expansion joint, and so wriggle its head out of the collar. When worn normally, it looks like a single piece, but if you stretch it you can see this v thin piece of elastic which under tension stretches to about an inch long (and then subsides back to invisibility when unstretched). The collar is in two pieces, which are joined together by a section of very thin elastic (what they call the 'elastic expansion joint'). This will be hard to explain verbally but it's very simple if you see them:D They are the original 'quick release' collars - when I started buying them about 15 years ago, they were the only type AFAIK.
